Indeed the latest regulations on hazardous waste include controls over the disposal and recycling of most IT and Telecommunications Equipment. These cover, not only the disposal and recycling of the hardware, but also the transport to and from the recycling / disposal site. MGH Scotland is a well established company fully licensed by SEPA to handle all forms of Waste Disposal and Recycling. Our main focus has been on the handling of personal computers, monitors and other electronic waste. Discarded IT equipment and CRT displays are assessed for the most suitable recycling route in accordance with WEEE provisions. The majority of equipment currently collected is consigned for physical destruction with recovery of the various material components. Equipment is stripped down with any hazardous elements removed e.g. lithium cells on the motherboards. The material is then separated’ shredded and processed. Ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals are recovered and sent for recycling where possible. It is important to note that CRT Monitors are classified as hazardous waste thus requiring special treatment.
In addition to the disposal of the equipment, our offering extends to providing an audit trail of the assets disposed of by providing full details such as part number, serial number, etc. of the individual units handled. Allied to that we can perform a disk wipe so destroying all sensitive data where this is required. Of course we fully comply with all SEPA requirements on the retention of consignment notes and other regulatory items. We believe that we have much to offer you in disposing of your waste items.
